A Word to Last the Year
When it comes the beginning of a new year, there are two types of people - those who set new year’s resolutions and those who pick one word. I’m the latter.
I usually pick a word and by week three of the year, it was just that...a word.
———————————————
I, generally, pray over my yearly word and pick out a verse for it. But this year, I prayed, researched, cried, and poured over my word.
I started with a list of words. Actually my word wasn’t even on the list. The word came after picking 4 words and combining them into one word. The four words I was down to were:
1 - Discover
2 - Wonder
3 - New
4 - Transform/Metamorphosis
From there, the webbing began to find that one word. And then I found it. And I studied it. I learned about it. I learned its patterns, its characteristics, its nuances….
And so I chose to do something different with this word. I’m taking it in little-by-little.
And so this is how I’m starting with this word:
I will return her vineyards to her
and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.
She will give herself to me there,
as she did long ago when she was young,
when I freed her from her captivity in Egypt.
Hosea 2:15
I’m starting my the vineyards - the place where I gave God my life when I was young, the place of freedom from my Egypt, the place of hope, the place of transformation.
This is just week 3. I have 49 more weeks to go - so much to learn, so many steps to take. Maybe I’ll make the record books among the few that keep up their resolutions and words for the whole year.
